A former senior clerk at Metropolitan District Commission in Boston, Mercia Grant is committed to supporting multiple charities and raising awareness of important causes. Mercia Grant’s granddaughter, Lily Mercia Sateriale, passed away in 2012 at 20 months of age as a result of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). Ever since, Ms. Grant has made a contribution for SUDC research to the Boston Children’s Hospital on Lily’s birthday. Additionally, she donates her time to fundraising efforts for SUDC.
In 2012, Ms. Grant supported Lily’s Walk for Answers, a fundraiser that included a silent auction and raffle for the SUDC Foundation. She provided travel assistance to those coming from out of town for the event and fulfilled other needs, such as arranging the gift baskets that would go on sale during the auction. The event ultimately raised more than $13,000.
More recently, she participated in the 2019 “Love Blooms” t-shirt fundraiser. With her support, the fundraiser collected $258 for SUDC and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research through Robert’s Program of Boston Children’s Hospital.
